2005 Kids' Ice Fishing Tournament
-
The Annual Valley Lake Kids' Ice Fishing Tournament was
held on February 5, 2005 on Valley Lake in Lakeville, MN
in conjunction with the City
of Lakeville and
the Lakeville Knights of Columbus.
-
This year we had 235 kids come and register to fish in the tournament...
one of the largest turnouts on record. Trophies were awarded
in the following categories: ''Longest
Fish Caught,'' ''Shortest
Fish Caught,'' & ''Most
Unusual Bait Used.''
-
The longest fish this year was a 17'' Northern pulled through the
ice just after 1:00pm in the afternoon.
Nice catch. Another notable was a 12½'' bass about 20 minutes
later.
-
We also drew names at the end of the tournament, giving
away door prizes to the kids whose names were drawn; prizes included:
three rods & reels, tackle box, etc. Each participant was also given
a bag of plastic bait & lures courtesy of Minnesota Pole Benders
and Gander Mountain.
-
Over 300 holes were drilled and we had wonderful weather for this
year's tournament (50° and sunny with blue skies overhead).
We look forward to the Fall Kids' Tournament, which will
be held at the beginning of August 2005!
